Life the Guardian is a classic triple threat talented in writing, acting and performing.
His sprit shines through in published poetry compilations and in some independent
movie productions but the essence of Life’s experience is displayed in his
performances in concert. He has toured on college circuits as part of a group
and as a solo performer has appeared both in the United States and Eastern Europe.
His appeal is based partially upon his knack for taking an average show and turning
it into an unforgettable party.
Life grew up in various cities in the Eastern United States. He is the adopted
son of a father who worked in the political and journalistic arenas. A need for
self discovery launched Life on a journey that landed him homeless on the streets
of several unwelcoming cities. This, at a time most kids his age were only concerned
with driver’s licenses and first dates. A born survivor, he adapted to the
hustler lifestyle to survive one day at a time. This, however, was not without
a price. Life had seen and experienced enough pain and loss to know it intimately
and never again desire that solitary existence. So, once again, he walked away
from all he knew to evade the cycle of self-destruction. It was time to reinvent
himself yet again.
This time, Life decided to trust in the one thing that had never let him down,
his music. It was, upon reflection, a chance to take his passion for music and
his experiences learned along his path of discover and to reach out and move the
world while teaching his hard earned lessons of survival and hope. Life was quickly
accepted into the local markets he entered. His passion shone through in his delivery
and his gut wrenching lyrics and he was being touted as the hottest raw talent
in the underground music scene. He connected to his audience on so many levels
and was embraced by them. It looked as if the moment was here for Life to explode
from the underground to the national scene. But, in music, dreams can be like
stardust and can disappear in a heartbeat. The predators so prevalent in the industry
took his hopes for success but never were able to steal his passion, his soul.
So it was déjà vu, another long road filled with obstacles.
Life made his way to the West Coast and pursued an acting career while slowly
working his way back into the realm of the music industry. Life has always learned
from mistakes and would not repeat them in Hollywood. At this point, he met a
young, ambitious woman by the name of Stacie Leigh. Their dreams and views on
music mated and with her support, Life became the first artist of Emci Entertainment.
Their connections led them to platinum rock recording artist Adam Williams of
Powerman 5000 and Life cut his first album, “The Trials of Life.”
The album quickly generated a buzz in the field and sent Life on his acclaimed
Eastern European tour. Positive press and fan reaction made this a success that
exceeded his expectations. Back in the States and living in the Emerald City,
Seattle, WA, Life is now poised to launch his highly anticipated sophomore album,
“Vida Pura,” which chronicles his story of growth through adversity.
If there is one thing upon which Life is an expert, it is the struggles inherent
in “Pure Life.”
Life looks to his surroundings and his memories for inspiration when writing
his songs, poetry and screenplays. Those close to him play the biggest role in
molding his thoughts. Of course, there are a plethora of artists to whom he owes
credit for inspiration. The roster ranges from Hendrix to Nirvana, B.B. King to
Bob Marley, and Run D.M.C, Rakim, Tribe Called Quest, TuPac, Biggie, Dr Dre, Eminem,
Redman, Method Man, Mos Def and many more.
